During the creation workshop organized by ACSIS in February and March, mothers have made trinkets and congratulation cards characterized by both originality and tradition. The spring symbols were promoted during the sale exposition organised by: BRD- Groupe Société Générale, Hotel InterContinental Bucharest, Delhaize Group, Abbot Products SRL, Kinstellar Romania, and Active Center.
With each image, with each frame, the story of the movie started to come to life and to reveal the essence of a dream and purpose. The filming managed to show not only a fragment of our work and achievements, but also to make public statistics, to give a name, and a personality to the many mothers who fight each day to give a better life to their children.
We initiated in May 2011 the Preventing Trafficking in Persons Project, with the support of SAMILIA Foundation and the ECPAT Organization from Belgium. Its purpose is to inform young people and adults vulnerable to this phenomenon, in order to decrease the risks they are exposed to.
With the support of SOROS Foundation Romania, ACSIS has edited in February 2012 the Guide for The Best Practices - Integrated services for single parent families to prevent separation or child abandonment. This guide is useful for both Child Care specialists from state and private institutions and the wide public and summarizes the experience gained by our team during the project’s development.
“When I started volunteering I did not know what exactly to expect. I had visions and desires about it but I did not know to what extent they will come true. Now, after 5 months, I can say that I was very lucky because I have discovered a united team of wonderful people who accepted me easily and from whom I have learned a lot. Though most of the people think that through volunteer acts you give something back to the community, they forget that this is not a one-sided relationship but something where the reward comes the moment you offer and invest, whether it is about the smile of a child or of a mother who sees it an easier burden to bear in struggling with her life.
